
Arrive in Auckland and explore this lovely waterside city at your own pace. Perhaps book a tour to visit the Hobbiton movie set, All Blacks Experience or opt to do some food and wine tasting on beautiful Waiheke Island.
Collect your motorhome and head south to Waitomo. Visit the magnificent Waitomo Glowworm caves for an incredible natural light show from these fascinating insects. Next up is the geothermal hotspot of Rotorua, home to bubbling geysers and volcanic mud pools, passing scenic vistas en route. Consider learning about New Zealand’s fascinating Māori heritage with a cultural experience including a delicious hāngī feast, a traditional Māori way of cooking in an underground oven.
Take the short drive through rolling hills to the lakeside town of Taupō, a great base for anyone looking to embark on a scenic trek across the imposing Mt. Tongariro. Continue through the heart of the North Island to Wellington, New Zealand’s capital, where you can stroll through the beautiful Botanic Gardens and sample some tasty food in one of the city’s many restaurants.
Board the ferry to the South Island and drive to the spectacular world-renowned wine region of Marlborough staying at the boutique, family-owned Gibson Bridge Vineyard, included with all maui motorhome rentals. Head west to the spectacular Abel Tasman National Park, renowned for its walking opportunities, golden beaches and beautiful coves, keeping your eyes peeled for playful fur seals.
Set out early for the long but beautiful drive to Punakaiki, and a great base for exploring Paparoa National Park and to see the unique Pancake Rocks. From here head south to the small, picturesque village of Fox Glacier. Consider adding on an unforgettable helicopter ride over the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, promising mesmerising views of these huge valleys of ice.
Drive through stunning Mount Aspiring National Park to lively Queenstown where the options for exploration from Queenstown are almost endless. Perhaps delight in a cruise across the waters of Milford Sound, join a city tour or ride the skyline for epic views.
Depart Queenstown and head towards the east coast to Oamaru, known for being the home of the world’s smallest penguins. Travel onwards to Christchurch to drop off your motorhome and spend your final night in a hotel. Choose to savour your last dinner in New Zealand on board the Christchurch Tramway Restaurant.
