Located in the heart of Southeast Asia, Singapore is a key stopover destination. However, this modern city is much more than a just place to refuel and stretch your legs! Three days in Singapore sounds like plenty, but once you start planning, you’ll soon realise that your days fill up fast!

Read on for my guide to how to spend 72 hours in Singapore, to help you make the most of your time in this contemporary city.

Day 1

Arrive at Changi Airport which is so much more than just an airport; named one of the best airports in the world, you could probably spend 72 hours here alone! A great start to any trip, Changi Airport is packed with fun things to do from strolling in the various gardens to playing arcade games, all alongside hundreds of shops, restaurants, and even playgrounds.

Head to your hotel, drop off your bags, and start exploring vibrant Singapore. The best way to start any city beak is by jumping on a hop-on-hop-off bus to get your bearings, especially if you are feeling the effects of the jetlag! Take in Singapore’s key sights including Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, the National Museum, or the Botanic Gardens. If you prefer to have a bit more guidance, then take a look at our great guided city tour of Singapore.

In the afternoon, what better way to relax after a day of sightseeing than afternoon tea at the iconic Raffles Singapore? Be sure to book this in advance to avoid disappointment!

Day 2

Time to explore Singapore! This morning head to the colourful and vibrant Kampong Glam for an Arabic coffee and be amazed by the eclectic area rich in Malay history area. Continue onto Chinatown for a plethora of superb streetside dining opportunities. Wanting to purchase some clothing or souvenirs? No problem: Chinatown is packed with stalls and markets where you’ll find some great deals. Be sure to leave some space in your luggage!

In the afternoon just before sunset, head to the Gardens by the Bay and meet the breathtakingly iconic Supertrees! These soaring vertical gardens collect rainwater, generate solar power and generally blow visitors’ minds. Don’t just admire these from a distance, head up to the observatory to experience them up close and marvel at the sweeping views of Marina Bay! As the evening draws in, be amazed by the Supertrees coming alive and immerse yourself in the spectacular light show (twice nightly at 7:45 and 8:45).

Day 3

Today visit Sentosa Island, which is connected to the city by road, cable car, monorail, and pedestrian boardwalk, and is home to an exciting array of themed attractions. With world-class adventure parks with adrenaline pumping rides as well as relaxing nature walks, championship golf courses and a wealth of dining options, you’re guaranteed a fun day out here! If you’re looking for a resort style stay rather than a city stay, take a look at the our family favourite hotel Shangri-La Rasa on Sentosa Island.

Wanting to do something different in Singapore? How about a night safari! Take a visit to the world’s first nocturnal animal park, which operates under the auspices of Wildlife Reserves of Singapore on almost 100 acres of secondary rainforest. Hop onboard and meet the creatures! For more information, take a look at our Night Safari tour.

Finally, to complete your 72 hours in Singapore, head up to Marina Bay Sands rooftop to enjoy a refreshing cocktail whilst absorbing the incredible views. Here you can enjoy the spectacular light show which takes place three times a night at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm. Alternatively, head back to Raffles to experience the famous Singapore Sling at the Long Bar!
