The magical and winter wonderland appeal of Lapland took me north to Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus and just reaches the Arctic Circle. Being this far north you can expect winters to be much darker, with December only having about 2-3 hours of daylight each day! But this only increases your chances of seeing the wonderful Northern Lights dance across the sky. From December through to the end of March Rovaniemi remains blanketed in snow with plenty of opportunity for winter activities and perhaps even a visit to meet Santa Claus!

There are many reasons why you may venture up north. The activities available are amazing, from dog sledding on frozen rivers, snowmobiling through forests or perhaps enjoying picnic beneath the Northern Lights and much more. The unique accommodation can be considered an attraction, with the chance to spend a night in a snow hotel or sleep under a starlit sky in a glass igloo. These activities combined with unique stays is truly a once in a lifetime experience suitable for all. For families you will find plenty of fun at the Santa Claus Village where you can go visit Santa Claus in his office, send letters and postcards from the official post office and join in with plenty of winter fun at Snowman World or one of the payable attractions.

Temperatures in Lapland can drop as low as -30 °C and can dramatically change day by day. Our packages do include snow gear such as snow suits, boots, and gloves, however, always bring plenty of thermals and layers for extra comfort.
