With its intriguing tribes and traditions, African culture is as diverse as they are fascinating.
Arguably the most recognized and renowned of all the Africa’s tribes is the Maasai tribe in Kenya and Tanzania. Their ways and traditions have remained unchanged for hundreds of years and while it is common to find a handful of modern artifacts, for the most part they remain true to their original values. If you fancy learning a about their way of life then Trailfinders can arrange a visit to a traditional Maasai village where you’ll see where the Maasai live along with their livestock, peek inside their homes and perhaps join in the traditional dancing.
Venture to Southern Africa to find ancient rock art left by the San, or Bushmen. These ancient rock paintings and carvings are found in caves and on rock shelters. The artwork depicts animal sightings, hunters and half-human half-animal hybrids. A rock painting discovered at Blombos Cave in South Africa is the oldest known instance of human art, dating to around 73,000 years ago.
