UNIQUE TRAVEL EXPERIENCES IN CANADA, FROM COAST TO COAST!

Canada is a country of endless possibilities, where vibrant cities meet with stunning natural landscapes offering loads of cultural and outdoor activities. Here are our top recommendations that will make travelling in Canada truly unique!

Natural Wonders

From icebergs to the world's highest tides, Canada's home to some breathtaking natural marvels. Just a one hour drive south from the town of Jasper, you can head out for an epic ride in a huge Ice Explorer on the glistening Athabasca glacier. Walk on the Icefields Skywalk, a 450-meter walkway made entirely of glass, then enjoy lunch with a view over the oldest and biggest glacier in the Rockies.

On the Atlantic side, each year ancient icebergs drift from Greenland toward Newfoundland’s shore. Watch them sailing past your window from the comfort of your own bed at Fogo Island Inn or track them on the iceberg watch app and chase them along the coast. For a closer experience, take a guided boat trip into Iceberg Alley where you might spot some whales too! May and June are usually the best months.

City Life

Practice your French while strolling through the cobbled streets Old Québec. Canada’s only fortified city brims with historic sites, culture and European charm. Québécoise are proud of their North American roots and francophone inheritance, and they’ll happily share with you their passion for this place. Every corner has potential for an Instagram-perfect shot and the food scene is a vibrant fusion of French recipes, Canadian ingredients and innovative ideas.

Nicknamed Hollywood of the North, Vancouver gets its unique look and feel from the elegance of its skyscrapers rising tall on the backdrop of the mountains, surrounded by the mighty Pacific Ocean. Plenty of movies and TV shows are filmed here, from the elegant Shaughnessy neighbourhood in West Vancouver as seen in All the Boys I've Loved Before to the enchanted rainforest of Stanley Park where you can imagine being a character of Once Upon a Time. Keep your eyes peeled for big white trailers, you might spot your actor-crush.

Indigenous Cultures

Canada’s original inhabitants, Inuit, Métis and First Nations cultures are still the keepers of its extensive land and waters. Indigenous families own lodges throughout the country and proudly practice their cultural teachings and traditions sharing authentic experiences with visitors. Perhaps travel to Algonquin Park, immersed in the serene wilderness of Northern Ontario, and enjoy a canoe trip along extensive river networks. Then continue to Manitoulin Island, the world’s largest freshwater island, where you can visit historic sites and savour some traditional dishes.

Winter Adventures

Just a 20 minute drive from Québec City, Hôtel de Glace is the ultimate winter experience. This architectural gem is re-built every year using 2,400 blocks of ice and 35,000 tonnes of snow. It hosts its own Grand Hall, chapel, family area, rooms and themed suites. If you don’t fancy spending the night, a tour with a cocktail is well worth the trip!

Hit Whistler’s world-class slopes on your skis or snowboard, choosing from thrilling descents to more gentle bunny hills. With over 200 marked runs, no two days are the same. Take the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola and enjoy the breathtaking scenery from high above. If you want to improve your technique, book yourself some classes and learn from some of the best instructors in the world. And if you’re here for the good times, Whistler's après scene won’t disappoint!

Wildlife Encounters

British Columbia is by far the best place on earth to observe bears in their natural habitat. To see black bears frolicking along the shoreline, join a Zodiac trip around Vancouver Island. Alternatively, if you have more time, take a floatplane to one of the remote bear lodges hidden within the Great Bear Rainforest. Welcoming and often family owned, these lodges offer wonderful, guided excursions to see grizzly, black or even spirit bears up-close.

Canada is one of the world's top whale watching destinations as its surrounding waters are home to more than 30 whale species. Sightings are typically very good from May to October, when migratory whales, dolphins and porpoises arrive to the cool waters in search of food. Perhaps take a Zodiac tour from Tadoussac, a picturesque village ideally situated at the convergence of the St. Lawrence River and the Saguenay Fjord. Or head to Brier Island in the Bay of Fundy for a whale watching cruise and then admire the greatest tides on earth.
