Why Travel Through Morocco by Train?

Comfortable and convenient

• Travelling in Morocco by rail is a relaxing way to discover the country. From the comfort of your cabin, gaze out the window and admire the wonderful scenery as it passes by.

Connects the major cities of Morocco

• Morocco’s rail routes conveniently connect the major tourist cities of Fez, Marrakech, Tangier, Rabat and Casablanca.

High speed – efficient mode of transport

• Morocco is home to Africa’s first high speed rail network, meaning that rail is often the quickest way to traverse the country.

Avoids the stress of driving

• Highways in Morocco can become congested, and not all roads are easy for drivers used to UK road conditions. Travelling by rail means you'll spend less time stuck in traffic jams and you won’t be able to get lost!

Immerse into the local culture

• Train travel in Morocco is a wonderful way to meet locals. Not just used by commuters, rail travel is used universally in Morocco, it is a very popular mode of transport, being both affordable and efficient. Often on board you'll have the chance to experience a vibrant, social dynamic.

On board the Trains in Morocco

There are two main types of train in Morocco, so your experience will vary. We always recommend travelling in First Class for the most enjoyable journey:

Al Atlas Train

In the First Class cabin, the Al Atlas Train offers six plush, cushioned seats per compartment – three on each side facing one another. You can enjoy greater leg room in First Class, although storage is limited to overhead racks. Larger suitcases can be fitted on the floor of your compartments, or on dedicated floor racks near carriage entry doors. Snack trolleys are also occasionally offered on some routes, in First Class cabins only.

Al Boraq High-Speed Train

In the First Class cabin on board the train, enjoy large and comfortable reclining seats, with plenty of legroom. The carriage offers an open plan modern saloon with seating in a 1+2 layout. You can also enjoy extra amenities in first class such as individual power outlets, for charging your devices, and fold down tables. Storage facilities are offered within the first-class cabin, with overhead storage racks accommodating standard carry-on luggage, while you can store your larger suitcases in designated bag areas at the end of carriages. An on board café-bar carriage is also available for purchasing hot drinks.

Another benefit of booking First Class tickets for Morocco rail journeys is that this category of ticket ensures you are assigned a seat, printed on your ticket. This means that you don’t need to contend with crowds to find an available seat on your rail journeys.

Tips For a Smooth Trip

• All Morocco train bookings made with Trailfinders include hotel to station (and vice versa) private transfers meaning that you don’t need to worry about getting to the station on time – your transfer driver will pick you up with plenty of time to make your departure.

• One piece of hand luggage and one piece of "checked" baggage can be taken per person onto trains.

• If booking with Trailfinders, your private transfer driver will assist you in finding the correct gate and managing your luggage at each departure station. However, because non-passengers are not allowed on the boarding platforms, you will need to be able to handle your luggage and find the correct platform number independently. Station staff will also be able to assist.
