Vietnam is an absolute treasure, renowned for great food, culture and history. With an abundance of interesting temples, gardens, palaces and beaches, there is something for everyone.

I recently stayed at the wonderful 5★ beach resort Anantara Quy Nhon Villas for two nights and arrived there in style by travelling on The Vietage by Anantara - a new luxury train service that links Danang and Quy Nhon, which offers delicious food, bottomless drinks and on board massages to make the six hour journey fly by!

The Vietage by Anantara really provides a unique experience being Vietnam’s first luxury train. From the moment you arrive at the train station, you are treated like royalty. Your luggage is taken for you to the luggage carriage while you relax in a private lounge with concierge service and offered local tea or prosecco while waiting to board the train.

Once onboard you are accommodated in your semi-private cabin furnished with comfortable seats and pillows with blankets and slippers for your comfort. Each cabin has a full-size window so you can observe the gorgeous Vietnamese landscape, quaint villages and postcard worthy rice fields with water buffalo and farmers wearing traditional conical nón lá hats.

Just as the initial buzz of feeling like royalty was starting to wear off, I was then served a three course meal that was absolutely delicious, with each dish paired with an accompanying wine or spirit as suggested by the waiters. After dinner we retired to the private bar where you can socialise and taste local Vietnamese coffee made right in front of you.

On top of this already stunning experience, each passenger can take advantage of a neck and shoulder massage (approx. 20 minutes) to ensure you arrive feeling completely rejuvenated. It really is the best way to travel through this part of Vietnam!

The Vietage three course menu was to die for. Prepared by a renowned local chef on board the train, these meals just melt in your mouth. Coupled with the exceptional staff onboard with everyone being so friendly and professional; you are certain to experience a luxury train journey of a lifetime.

Although the train is open to anyone, I strongly recommend using the train to transfer between the Anantara Hoi An 5★ resort in the north and the Anantara Quy Nhon Villas 5★ Resort 300 km further south. The Hoi An property is a relaxing, homely style hotel situated on the Thu Bon river just a short stroll away from the markets and old town that Hoi An is famous for, while Anantara Quy Nhon Villas boasts a spectacular location surrounded by mountains that face some of the best beaches in the whole of Vietnam.
