June is a wonderful month to travel. With longer days, pleasant weather, and fewer crowds than the peak summer months, it’s the perfect time to explore destinations both near and far. Whether you’re looking for a long-haul adventure, a chic city-break, or a relaxing escape, here’s our guide to where to go on holiday in June.

The Canadian Rockies

For breathtaking landscapes, fewer places compare to the Rocky Mountains in Canada. This is a great option for where to go on holiday in June; the snow has begun to melt, feeding turquoise lakes like Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, and hiking trails open up for the summer season.

Wildlife is abundant in Canada in June – it’s not unusual to spot elk, moose, or even a black bear. With mild daytime temperatures and fewer tourists than July and August, June is a fantastic month to visit Banff and Jasper National Parks at their most magical.

Queensland, Australia

If you’re willing to travel further afield, Queensland in Australia is in its dry season, making it an excellent choice for where to go on holiday in June, and is a great destination for a sunshine escape. Think golden beaches along the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, vibrant city life in Brisbane, and of course the world-famous Great Barrier Reef.

With comfortable temperatures hovering at around 25°C, you’ll avoid the sticky heat of the Australian summer while still enjoying blue skies and balmy evenings. It’s also whale-watching season, adding something extra special to your trip.

Copenhagen, Denmark

For something a bit closer to home, Copenhagen is a great choice for a June holiday. The Danish capital comes alive in the summer months, with locals flocking to outdoor cafés, harbourfront swimming spots, and leafy parks.

June brings long, light-filled days to Copenhagen, ideal for cycling through the city, exploring Tivoli Gardens, or indulging in the world-class food scene. With festivals and open-air events happening throughout the month, it’s a vibrant, stylish city break just a short flight from the UK.

Provence, France

By June, Provence is bathed in sunlight and the first of the famous lavender fields are beginning to bloom, painting the landscape in shades of purple and blue. Provence is a great option for where to go on holiday in June for drives around rolling vineyards, discovering hilltop villages, and enjoying leisurely lunches of rosé and Provençal cuisine.

The weather is warm but not uncomfortably hot, making it perfect for strolling through local markets, visiting Roman ruins, or hiking in the Luberon. Provence in June is the French countryside at its most idyllic.

Peru

For an unforgettable adventure, Peru is at its best in June. This is the dry season in the Andes, meaning clear skies and ideal trekking conditions. Whether you’re hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, exploring the Sacred Valley, or venturing into Cusco during the colourful Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun), Peru offers a rich mix of culture, history and natural wonders.

June is also a great time to combine the Andes with a visit to the Amazon Rainforest, where there’s wildlife spotting opportunities aplenty.

Montenegro

June is a great month to visit Montenegro, as the Adriatic coast comes to life with warm sunshine, swimmable seas and lively seaside towns, without the peak summer crowds of July and August. Expect long sunny days with temperatures typically ranging from the low 20s to high 20s°C, ideal for both relaxation and exploration.
