Central Asia Holidays
asia
Rich in history, culture and natural beauty, Central Asia holidays provide a unique opportunity to explore one of the world's least travelled areas. From turquoise lakes, towering peaks and vast steppes to ultra-modern cities, the landscapes are as varied as they are striking.
The famed Silk Road traverses through the five ‘Stans’ – Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Travelling this historic route on a small group tour offers a fascinating insight into the ancient civilisations it once sustained, as well as the enduring traditions of nomadic life across these vast lands.
Trailfinders offers a range of Central Asia holidays and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information about what to do here, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore the sights of the Silk Road on a group tour or immerse yourself in the diverse culture of Uzbekistan or Kyrgyzstan – they are the perfect people to ask.

For a smooth journey to Central Asia, we included a stopover in Istanbul. The flights worked well, and there was plenty to see and do in Turkey’s largest city. I would highly recommend this route with Turkish Airlines.

Guided group tours are a great way to explore Central Asia. As a solo female traveller, I was able to feel safe and supported while still enjoying a sense of independence. Travelling with a knowledgeable guide also made it easier to navigate language barriers, understand local customs, and gain deeper insight into the region’s history and culture.

While in Uzbekistan make sure to ride the Tashkent Metro, it’s an attraction in its own right. Built in the Soviet era, each station stop has its own theme and is decorated accordingly. I'm a bit of a space geek, so Kosmonavtlar was my favourite with its tile mural walls featuring famous Uzbek and Soviet cosmonauts. Do avoid visiting at lunchtime as the stations get incredibly busy.
