Georgia Holidays

Georgia holidays have grown hugely in popularity in recent years and now is the perfect time to visit.

No longer an off the beaten track destination, Tblisi, Georgia's picturesque capital city, makes for a vibrant first stop on your adventure. The old town is crammed full of historic architecture and has a wonderful range of restaurants to sample delicious Georgian cuisine and wine.

Outside of the capital, there is much to explore in this compact country. If you have a week or more to travel, the glorious and remote mountains of Svaneti are highly recommended. Rivalling anything you'll find in the Alps, this wild and untamed area is perfect for hiking with the small town of Mestia making for an ideal base. Not to be missed on any trip to Georgia, see the magnificent Ananuri Fortress Complex, on the Aragvi River, and dramatically perched Gergeti Trinity Church, found on the slopes Mount Kazbek.

Closer to Tblisi, Mtskheta is an important base for the Georgian Orthodox Church while Gori was the childhood home of Stalin; today stands a museum dedicated to his life. Just outside of Gori also stands Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock hewn town abandoned around the 14th Century.

Georgia combines natural wonders with a long and proud history and is an easy introduction to the ever-fascinating Caucasus region.

Trailfinders offers a range of Georgia holidays and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information, often with first-hand travel experience.
