New Orleans captivates your senses with its charming buildings, lush courtyards and colourful history. Stay in the legendary French Quarter and experience traditional jazz on Bourbon street.
Louisiana and Mississippi boast majestic, lovingly restored plantation homes with elegant columns, grand staircases and period furnishings that evoke a real sense of the Old South. Stay in Louisiana’s Plantation Country for mansions along the ‘River Road’ or head to Natchez in Mississippi for a delightful, historic city full of charming antebellum architecture.
Memphis and Nashville are at the centre of America’s legendary music history. Memphis is the birthplace of the blues and home to Elvis’ house, Graceland, whilst Nashville is the world famous home of country music and the Grand Ole Opry.
Georgia and South Carolina offer an opportunity to experience a fusion of modern cities, stunning scenery and Southern charm. Plantation homes and graceful architecture, cobbled streets, broad beaches and golf courses all add to the appeal.
Texas will fulfil your dreams of the wild frontier with cowboys, ranches and unending plains. Less well known are charms of the cities, from modern and creative Austin and Houston and Spanish influenced San Antonio to historic Fort Worth where you can still witness cattle drives through the streets today.

WHERE TO GO IN THE SOUTH
New Orleans & Louisiana
Outside of the Big Easy, head to Plantation Country for a fascinating insight in to a bygone era and crucial period of America's history when the glamour of the beautiful homes contrasted starkly with the ugly reality of slavery.
Discover colourful Cajun Country; home to peaceful bayous, Cajun music and the friendly town of Lafayette.
Delightful Natchez is the oldest city along the Mississippi River and boasts a wealth of plantation homes and historic antebellum mansions.
Further north you'll come to the Mississippi Delta; it was here the blues were born and the region is a must for anyone interested in blues and the roots of Rock 'n' Roll. The Magnolia State's most famous son is of course Elvis Presley and his humble childhood home in Tupelo welcomes visitors.
Memphis, Nashville & Tennessee
The iconic cities of Memphis and Nashville overflow with the sounds of blues, rock ‘n’ roll and country music, yet the surrounding mountains and rivers are every bit as enjoyable.
Head in to the countryside and enjoy the magnificent panoramas and scenic drives of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and perhaps take a detour to Dollywood for some kitsch theme park fun. Or head to Chattanooga and ride up the steepest passenger railway in the world.
Once you've had your fill of history and culture, head to one of South Carolina's glorious beaches. To the south is beautiful Hilton Head, a scenic barrier island with 12 miles of sandy beaches, natural dunes and excellent resort hotels. There's also over 40 golf courses, including 24 championship courses.
In the north of the state is Myrtle Beach, a fun resort town with beaches, fun fairs and boardwalks. There's yet more choice for golf lovers with over 80 golf courses - there's a reason Myrtle Beach is known as the 'golf capital of the world'!
Further down the coast is the curiously named Cape Fear. Base yourself in Wilmington, a lovely town with a charming riverwalk, and explore Cape Fear's rivers, azalea gardens and golden beaches.
Travel to the west of the state to be rewarded with incredible mountain scenery. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park straddles Tennessee and North Carolina. This popular national park is home to sensational mountain vistas, wonderful scenic drives and rewarding hiking trails. Base yourself on the edge of the park in nearby Asheville. This vibrant and arty town has a great vibe and is home to numerous breweries as well as the opulent Biltmore Estate.
