Mauritius holidays offer dramatic volcanic peaks, rushing rivers and refreshing waterfalls encircled by over 200 miles of reef protected golden sands.

The lush and mountainous Indian Ocean Island of Mauritius is home to an array of exotic flora and fauna which can be explored in many of the parks. Pamplemousse Royal Botanical Gardens boasts rare native plants and a colony of giant tortoises whilst Black River Gorges National Park has superb walking trails and Domaine des Pailles takes visitors on a horse-drawn carriage to explore the sugar mill, rum distillery and spice garden.

With beautiful beaches, awe-inspiring scenery, exceptional cuisine and a vibrant mix of cultures, this paradise island offers the opportunity to explore and relax as you choose. Mauritius Top Tips From Our Travel Experts

Zoe Milton - expert
Zoe Milton

Mauritius is renowned for having amazing beaches, but little known Black River Gorge National Park is also well worth a visit. Once you're high up in the mountains, the views across the island and out to sea are stunning!

Emily Fitzsimons - expert
Emily Fitzsimons

Take some time to explore the island - head over to Chamarel where you have a waterfall, the 7 coloured earth and rum tasting!

Peter Douglas - expert
Peter Douglas

We went on a day trip to experience the beautiful and wild south of the island and were blown away by the beautiful greenery and passion for the island that the locals have. Seven Coloured Earth caused by volcanoes, sugar cane providing over 40% of the islands electricity as well as being a chief export, rum tasting, snorkelling with tropical fish, views down over the black river gorge with waterfalls catching the sun as they tumble below from the height of the statue of liberty... and this was all just in seven hours!
