South Africa Holidays

africa
South Africa holidays offer vibrant cities, stunning landscapes and incredible wildlife.

The stunning diversity of South Africa means there is truly something for everyone. A Big 5 safari is undoubtedly one of the main draws, with a plethora of world-famous national parks and game reserves offering the chance to spot the country’s incredible wildlife. With many of them malaria-free and easily accessible, a safari can be included on any South Africa holiday.

The Western Cape offers the enticing prospect of combining vibrant Cape Town with the vintages of the Cape Winelands and two world class drives; the Garden Route & Route 62. Lesser known but no less stunning are the beaches, reserves and moving battlefield sites of KwaZulu-Natal - a great tropical choice during the South African winter. Or why not explore the royal kingdom of eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) with its wonderfully rugged landscapes and rich culture.

Trailfinders offers a wide range of South Africa holidays and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information about what to do here, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore South Africa on a fly drive holiday, aboard the iconic luxury Rovos Rail, a sociable guided group tour, or are looking for advice on how to combine South Africa with a beach destination – they are the perfect people to ask.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT SOUTH AFRICA?

The best time to visit South Africa varies by region. Generally, most people travel between November and March when the weather is warm, sunny and dry. The exception to this is Kruger National Park where the cooler months between May and September are the best for game viewing.

The diverse region of KwaZulu-Natal benefits from a year-round tropical climate. In short, there really is no bad time of year for a South African holiday!

There's so much to do in Cape Town, it's hard to fit it all in in one visit. It's a city full of culture, amazing restaurants, beautiful ocean and mountain views, and is only a short drive from the picturesque Cape Peninsula and world-renowned wine regions. I can't wait to visit again!
