Rodrigues Island Holidays

maldives mauritius & seychelles
Rodrigues Island holidays promise a slow-paced, peaceful getaway. Affectionately known as the Cinderella of the Mascarenes, the unspoilt paradise island of Rodrigues lies a 90 minute flight east of Mauritius. Following the lead of the giant tortoises who call the island home, Rodrigues and its people encourage a slow paced, gentle approach to life.

Ready to be explored by diving, snorkelling or glass bottom boat the surrounding lagoon waters are teeming with life including rays, turtles and reef sharks, as well as dramatic canyons and caves across two marine parks.

Rodrigues’ compact size makes it easy to explore nature's abundance, with each turn rewarding the traveller with dramatic landscapes and new discoveries. Most roads lead through the hilly centre, which is criss-crossed with hiking and cycle routes that showcase the rich array of the island's endemic flora and fauna. To the south François Leguat Reserve is home to over 3000 giant tortoises, bred as part of a rewilding project.

Rodrigues’ distinct cultural heritage combines African, European and Creole influences that set it apart from its Mauritian neighbours. Be sure to sample the delicious sundried octopus curry ourite, a signature dish of the island.

Trailfinders offers a range of Rodrigues Island holidays which work as a great add on to any Mauritius holiday, and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information about what to do here, often with first-hand travel experience.
