Kanana

A hidden jewel beside Xudum River southwest of the Okavango Delta, this classic camp is designed in a 1920s explorer style and enjoys fabulous floodplain views. The area encompasses a necklace of islands dotted with palm, fig, ebony and knob thorn trees and is home to a myriad of birds, plants and animals. The annual floods transform parts of this concession into a true water paradise, offering guests both land and water-based game viewing. Activities vary with the rising and falling water levels and include day and night game drives, mokoro and motorboat safaris (subject to water levels), walking safaris and fishing (seasonal Mar-Dec). Birding is spectacular and Kanana has exclusive access to a seasonal heronry that teems with activity (Jul-Nov). The main camp area is set on raised decks with comfortable lounges and a smart communal dining area. There is also a small pool.
The eight spacious fan-cooled Safari Tents are beautifully furnished with polished wooden floors and a veranda overlooking the river (shower only). There is a two bedroom tent for families, plus a sleep out deck a short drive from camp that offers guests the opportunity to spend the night under the African sky (pre-booking recommended, extra charges may apply).
