The Emakoko

This boutique lodge is uniquely positioned on the edge of the Nairobi National Park, a 45 minute from either of Nairobi’s airports. The drive through the park itself, with its beautiful scenery and abundance of plains game is a superb way to start any East African safari. Despite its proximity to the capital, the national park boasts a spectacular assortment of birds and wildlife, and there’s a good chance of spotting four of the Big 5, including black rhino. The property offers a cosy lounge and elegant dining area, plus a terrace and a pool with wonderful views over the river below. The 10 rooms are very spacious and decorated in a chic contemporary style with a fireplace and a private veranda. Five of the rooms are built into the cliff face and accessed via steep steps or a funicular.
