Amakhala Bush Lodge

Amakhala Bush Lodge is an outstanding safari experience! The level of service was second to none, every member of staff knew every detail about our stay - from cleaners to bar staff, and even the management.

The accommodation itself was as it says in the name - a bush lodge - so not ultra-modern; however the rooms are very spacious and of an exceptional standard nonetheless.

If you’re looking to go on a real safari, then this is the place to stay! The drivers and guides here go above and beyond; on our full day here, we had eight hours’ worth of game drives and saw every animal possible and more. The guides are in constant communication with the lodge, which upon arrival makes you feel like a VIP – there’s always somebody waiting for you with a drink in hand and a fire blazing in your lodge.

As a vegan in South Africa the food here was by far the best throughout my trip. The chef actually woke up at 3am to bake me fresh muffins for my morning game drive, along with baking separate pies for me for lunch.

Top tip: Request DJ for your guide if possible; he’s a real bush man, he doesn't own a TV so will happily stay out longer, he knows every detail about tracking and will send you off with a books worth of dad jokes!
