Kariega Main Lodge

Wow, Kariega totally exceeded my expectations. The game viewing is exceptional; we were able to get so close the animals.

The reserve is beautiful so, regardless of trying to spot the ‘Big 5’, the drives were incredibly scenic.

We were lucky enough to have a safari vehicle to ourselves for our party of 7 and our guide was very informative, tailoring the route to what we were hoping to see. We were out for 3-4 hours per drive and even on the last day were still discovering new areas of the reserve.

Bush walks and river cruises are available and enhance the overall experience.

The food was buffet style, offering a varied menu and plentiful array, all a great quality, offering a children’s menu for kids.

The rooms were fantastic. One-bedroom chalets were spacious with amazing views. Some in our party shared a 3-bedroom chalet which had a central living space and large balcony, making it ideal for families.

The pool area was nice, and there is also a table tennis and kids club facility, available.

I would highly recommend this lodge to families and couples/honeymooners who are looking for great value.

Top tip: Take layers, whilst blankets are provided, the temperature drops as you head from the lodge into the Valley!
