Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort

The Domes Miramare is a wonderful place if you're after a relaxing stay. We stayed in the Opal Suite with Jacuzzi, that was a real treat and I recommend it - there's nothing like looking out to sea in your own private hot tub!

The room was of a good size with a large superking sized bed, and was situated up on the hill (the Panoramic Wing), across the road from the main reception. There's a tunnel under the road to keep everyone safe, with lifts on each side for those with mobility issues. There is still a fair amount of walking around the resort required though, but the staff can help with golf buggies if needed.

There are a good selection of restaurants/bars offering a variety of cuisines, from Italian through to Michelin starred fine dining. Meals ranged from €20 to €30 for a main course, but in the Makris fine dining restaurant you can have a three course meal for €90 or a ten course tasting menu for €130 a head - wine pairing is available on top. Make sure you make reservations; the staff will remind you on check in.

The village of Moraitikia is just a ten minute walk away with a number of restaurants and bars, mostly serving Italian or fish for €10 to €15 a head. We were there at the end of the season, so the village was quiet, but there was still plenty of options open.

The breakfast is exceptional, with a great range of options including a dedicated omelette chef. There's indoor and outdoor seating, but if there's only space outdoors and it's a bit chilly, they'll bring space heaters. There's also sparkling wine and a range of juices, so you can make your own mimosas!

I recommend booking a transfer, as we struggled to get a taxi when we arrived at the port - the drivers didn't want to go that far. It's around €55 to €60 to get to the ferry port or the airport. The taxi ride is about 40 minutes from both.

The spa is lovely, and you can have all day access to the pool, sauna and steam room for €25. You can also pick from a variety of additional treatments. This is a great option if the weather isn't so nice outside.
