SUJAN Sher Bagh, Ranthambore NP

If you are looking for a boutique luxury wildlife lodge experience in Ranthambore NP, you really can’t get much better than Sujan Sher Bagh.

Completely refurbished in 2021, the spacious tented suites are as beautiful as they look in the pictures and the food as top notch as you’d expect from a Relais & Chateaux member property. Most of the ingredients are sourced from the hotel’s own farm and organic garden which guests are welcome to visit. The hotel conveniently offers a brunch menu, so depending on your game drive plans you can choose traditional breakfast options or move straight to lunch (or have both if preferred - there’s no rules!). In the evenings, they aim to provide different dining venues for each night of your stay, ranging from an open air jungle kitchen, where the food is cooked ‘camp style’ and served around a fire pit to a candlelit dinner served on the pool terrace. The bar comes complete with a well-stocked martini trolley and a wall of photos documenting the part the family owners have played in India’s conservation efforts over the past 50 years.

With just 12 tents, and everyone here for the wildlife experience, there's a great social atmosphere similar to that of a high end African safari lodge. The lodge employs around 70 staff, the majority from the local community, that’s almost three for per guest so service levels were high and we found every staff member friendly and engaging.

Top Tip: Our full board package here includes free daily laundry which is very welcome as you get incredibly dusty on game drives. And do use their wake-up service, where a tray of hot coffee and cookies is delivered to the verandah of your tent at your requested time - makes those very early starts that little bit easier!
