Gladiators & Pharaohs

Day 1  Luxor                      
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.

Day 2  Luxor                      
Head out to the beautifully preserved vast temple complex of Karnak and nearby Luxor Temple. Filled with intricate carvings, ancient chapels, and the famous Avenue of the Sphinx, this incredible site will leave you feeling mesmerised by its grandeur and scale.

Day 3  Luxor            
Cross the mighty River Nile to discover the famous Valley of the Kings where the great pharaohs were buried. Continue to the captivating Temple of Hatshepsut with its meticulous wall carvings, and finally the remarkable Colossi of Memnon.

Day 4  Luxor to Cairo              
Take the short flight to Cairo. Spend this afternoon exploring this dynamic city at your leisure.

Day 5  Cairo            
Depart Cairo on a full day tour to the romantic port city of Alexandria. Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, come to learn of Alexandria’s rises and falls during both ancient and modern times. With a private guide visit Alexandria’s archaeological site - the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, the Roman Amphitheatre, Pompey Pillar and the Great Library of Alexandria.

Day 6  Cairo                      
Today visit the Grand Egyptian Museum. Guided by an expert Egyptologist, explore the extensive array of Ancient Egyptian artefacts, including the famous Tutankhamun collection and other items never previously displayed.

Day 7  Cairo to Rome      
Fly to the Eternal City of Rome. On arrival, transfer to your hotel before heading out and choose to spend the evening dining al fresco.

Day 8  Rome          
Today, join a guided tour and explore the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. The rest of the day is at your leisure, maybe visit one of the city’s fascinating museums or find a local wine bar in the lively Campo de Fiori area.

Day 9  Rome            
This morning, sample some of Rome’s tastiest local cuisine as you explore the vibrant farmers market on your included walking food tour, see sights such as the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. Later, why not relax with a refreshing Aperol Spritz in a pretty cobbled piazza, or take a stroll through the elegant Villa Borghese Gardens?

Day 10  Rome                
Wander Rome’s enchanting streets one last time and savour a final rich Italian coffee before transferring back to the airport for your flight home.
