Discover The Drakensberg

Days 1-2  Durban to Umhlanga  
Pick up your car at Durban airport and head up the coast to laidback Umhlanga. Stroll along the promenade, visit the historic lighthouse and enjoy spectacular sunrises over the Indian Ocean.          

Days 3-4  Umhlanga to Midlands Meander  
Continue north west to the heart of the scenic Midlands Meander. Based around a network of five hugely popular driving routes, the Meander boasts over 150 art and craft studios, farms and restaurants.          

Day 5  Midlands Meander to the Central Drakensberg      
The Drakensberg stretch for over 600 miles, reaching their greatest elevation in the area just east of Lesotho. Once settled at your hotel, located in one of the most picturesque corners of South Africa, country walks and relaxing nature activities are the order of the day.          

Days 6-7  The Central Drakensberg  
With two full days to explore this stunning setting, don’t miss a hike around Monk’s Cowl or a visit to some of the panoramic viewpoints in the area.  

Days 8-9  The Central Drakensberg to the Northern Drakensberg  
Explore river valleys on horseback, test your skills on a mountain bike trail, at fishing or at golf. Don’t miss a trek to the incredible Drakensberg Amphitheatre, a sheer 500m high cliff face which stretches over 3 miles, complete with one of the world’s highest waterfalls.          

Days 10-12  The Northern Drakensberg to Nambiti Private Game Reserve        
Today, head east towards the unspoiled Nambiti Private Game Reserve for a stay at 5★ Nambiti Hills Private Game Lodge. Boasting over 20,000 acres and with game drives included, you will have the chance to spot some of the Big 5 as well as diverse bird species.    

Day 13  Nambiti Private Game Reserve to Johannesburg      
After a final morning game drive, it’s time to head to Johannesburg airport.
