Madikwe & Western Cape Family Adventure

Day 1  Johannesburg to Madikwe GR      
Arrive in the City of Gold in time to meet your short onward flight north to the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Check in to your Luxury Family Tent at the friendly aha Thakadu River Camp.                      

Days 2-3  Madikwe GR  
Enjoy two full days of exploring the diverse variety of habitats in Madikwe with your experienced and enthusiastic ranger. Traverse alongside dams, through valleys and over rocky hills in search of the Big 5 and some of the reserve’s other notable residents, which include wild dogs, hyenas and impressive birds of prey. Back at camp, relax by the pool, enjoy dinner in the beautiful tented lounge and soak up the sounds of the bush as night falls.                      

Day 4  Madikwe GR to Cape Town                
Time permitting, enjoy a final morning game drive before your short flight back to Johannesburg for your onward flight to Cape Town. Your home away from home for the next three nights is in the prestigious waterside location just minutes from the V&A Waterfront.      

Day 5  Cape Town      
Beautiful Cape Town boasts a plethora of natural landscapes, so spend the day exploring Table Mountain by cable car (fee payable locally), enjoy a picnic in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, or hit the beach in Clifton.        

Day 6  Cape Town            
Today, join a full day Cape Point & Peninsula Tour and follow the dramatic coastline south to picturesque Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. On the return, stop at pretty Boulders Beach to marvel at the amusing antics of the numerous African penguins.    

Days 7-9  Cape Town to Stellenbosch  
Watch the landscape change as you drive from the city to the lush, rolling vineyards of the Cape Winelands. It may have the reputation of a world-renowned wine producing region, but if you thought it wasn't a family-friendly destination, think again! With grape tasting, a birds of prey centre and family picnics on the lawn, Spier Hotel & Wine Farm is the perfect choice to spend a few days of quality time as a family.

Days 10-13  Stellenbosch to Hermanus            
It's time to head to the whale capital of Hermanus where you have the opportunity to spot these majestic creatures in their natural habitat on a scenic whale watching cruise. Soak up the coastal scenery, before heading back to Cape Town to fly home.
