Magnificent Madikwe & Mauritius

Day 1  Fly to Johannesburg, South Africa    

Day 2  Johannesburg to Madikwe GR        
Arrive into Johannesburg, the City of Gold in time to meet your short onward flight north to the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Check in to your Luxury Bush Villa at the friendly 4★ Motswiri Private Safari Lodge nestled under a canopy of ancient Leadwood trees.        

Days 3-4  Madikwe GR  
Over the next couple of days enjoy exploring the diverse variety of habitats in Madikwe with your experienced and enthusiastic ranger. Traverse alongside dams, through valleys and over rocky hills in search of the Big 5 and some of the reserve’s other notable residents, which include wild dogs, hyenas and impressive birds of prey. Back at camp, relax by the pool, enjoy sundowners overlooking the waterhole and soak up the sounds of the bush as night falls.        

Day 5  Madikwe GR to Johannesburg        
Time permitting, enjoy a final morning game drive before your short flight back to Johannesburg. Transfer to 4★+ hotel, Sanctuary Mandela, located in the former home of Nelson Mandela in Houghton, blending historical significance with a tranquil atmosphere. This evening, perhaps try the hotel’s restaurant serving variations of Mandela’s favourite dishes.  

Day 6  Johannesburg        
Explore Johannesburg today, known as the economic, cultural and historic heart of South Africa. Head out on a guided tour of the Soweto & Apartheid Museum and learn about the turbulent, yet fascinating apartheid period. Later, perhaps head to the nearby Nelson Mandela Square and its neighbouring shopping centre.  

Day 7  Johannesburg to Mauritius        
Today, head to the airport for your onward flight to the beautiful island of Mauritius, with its dramatic volcanic peaks encircled by white sands and picturesque views across the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Transfer to 5★ The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa and indulge in your luxurious surroundings on the beautiful east coast.      

Days 8-11  Mauritius        
Spend the next 5 days taking in all that this gorgeous resort and island has to offer. Set on the edge of Turtle Bay marine park and with the shimmering ocean is home to abundant marine life and with plenty of water-based activities on offer, be sure to head out into the shimmering ocean and enjoy the area’s abundant marine life ‐ you might even have the chance to see turtles and dolphins!

Days 12-13  Fly home
