Itinerary
Day 1
After a welcome reception this morning at Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria, the train will begin its journey across the goldfields of the Witwatersrand and the broad grassland plains of the Highveld. Today, lunch is served in the dining cars as the train ravels the broad grassland plains of the Highveld. Afternoon Tea is served in the lounge and observation cars before dinner in the dining cars as the train makes it ways to Klerksdorp.
Day 2
Breakfast is served in the dining cars this morning en route to the diamond rush town of Kimberley. Enjoy lunch before arriving in the capital of the Northern Cape. Kimberely is known for the discovery of diamonds that led to its establishment in 1871, learn more as you enjoy a tour of the Diamond Mine Museum and the Big Hole. Return to the train as the continues south, dinner tonight is served in the dining cars.
Day 3
Enjoy breakfast in the dining cars this morning, as train continues its journey through the Karoo, a vast semi-desert region that was once an enormous inland sea. After lunch, the train arrives in the quaint village of Matjiesfontein, restored to its Victorian glory. Disembark for an opportunity to stroll through the historic village. Reboard the train and take in the scenery, as the train trundles towards Worcester and the Western Cape. Tonight, dinner is served in the dining cars.
Day 4
Enjoy a final breakfast onboard, as you travel through the majestic mountains on the banks of the Hex River Valley, before arriving into Cape Town at approx 3pm.
