Western Cape & Wilderness by Luxury Rail (Rovos Rail)

Day 1  Fly to Cape Town    

Day 2  Cape Town to Franschhoek    
Upon arrival, transfer from Cape Town airport straight to the Cape Winelands.    

Days 3-4  Franschhoek  
Situated right in the hub of quaint Franschhoek village, your boutique hotel offers modern sophistication and charm. Spend your days here sampling what this renowned wine region is most famous for, indulging in fine dining and soaking up the gorgeous scenery which surrounds.    

Day 5  Franschhoek to Cape Town    
This morning, transfer back to the Mother City. With the iconic Table Mountain, pleasant V&A Waterfront and stylish Camps Bay, there is plenty to explore.  

Days 6-7  Cape Town  
Today, take a private transfer and enjoy a thrilling whale watching tour (Jul - Nov) for the chance to see these majestic creatures as they spend the winter months on the sheltered shores of this exceptional coastline. The following day, be sure to sample Cape Town’s vibrant food scene and the many attractions of the V&A Waterfront.    

Days 8-10  Rovos Rail    
Board your train on the afternoon of day 8 for an elegant trip across South Africa’s wild heart. Leaving Cape Town behind, meander through the spectacular mountain ranges and scenic winelands towards historic Matjiesfontein. Continue on through Karoo, a vast semi-desert region that was once an enormous inland sea. The next day enjoy a leisurely morning before an off train excursion at Kimberley, the diamond capital of Africa. Re-board the train for an elegant evening meal as the sun sets across the African wilderness.    

Day 11  Johannesburg    
Admire the views from the Observation Car as the train continues through the Free State before arriving into Kookrus Station*, just south of Johannesburg, on arrival you will be transferred onwards to your hotel.

Day 12  Johannesburg to Sabi Sand GR    
Today, it’s time to head to Kruger National Park for your safari experience. Take a light aircraft direct to Sabi Sabi’s airstrip, set within the renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

Days 13-15  Sabi Sand GR    
With twice daily game drives, your expert rangers will impart knowledge about the fascinating animal kingdom of the bush. Back at camp, relax in your luxurious surrounds and swap safari stories with your fellow guests over candlelit dinners.

Days 16-17  Transfer to Johannesburg and fly home.
