Itinerary
Days 3-7 Sydney
Australia’s most iconic city, Sydney has a stunning location and attractions galore. Get your bearings on a city tour, taking in the historic Rocks district, Bondi Beach and more. A city in love with its harbour, spend an afternoon aboard a luxury motor yacht cruise having lunch with unbeatable Harbour Bridge and Opera House views. Sydney also has more than its fair share of gastronomical delights on offer, so be sure to sample as many of the food markets and award-winning restaurants as you can whilst immersed in this buzzing metropolis. Just outside of the city lies the stunning Blue Mountains which you will get to visit as part of a small group tour.
Days 8-10 Uluru
Fly from Sydney to Australia’s stunning Red Centre and transfer to spectacular Uluru. A complete contrast to cosmopolitan Sydney, this region embodies a primal Australia, boasting dramatic scenery, unique wildlife and ancient Aboriginal culture. Join an escorted tour of Uluru where the history of this region will be brought to life as you view ancient indigenous rock art en route to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole. As the sun slowly sinks, travel to Uluru to witness the striking colour changes at sunset, whilst savouring a glass of wine and some canapés. Enjoy a tour to the famous Kings Canyon in Wattarrka National Park. Make the rocky climb with your guide to the canyon rim where magnificent panoramic views await.
Days 11-16 Cairns & the Great Barrier Reef
After a 2½ hour flight, get ready to explore the incredible Great Barrier Reef! Take a cruise on the Outer Barrier Reef to swim, snorkel and learn more about the diverse marine life found in these incredible waters. Back on dry land, head north on a day tour to beautiful Cape Tribulation and the lush Daintree Rainforest, ticking off two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest rainforest in the world and boasts incredible biodiversity, whilst Cape Tribulation is a completely unique landscape denoted by the meeting place of reef and rainforest. Spend your free days exploring Cairns’ lively esplanade and buzzing marina or kick back beside the pool.
Days 17-18 Fly home
Additional Options: Whilst we have suggested starting in Sydney, you could also choose to begin this adventure in sun swept Perth, artistic Adelaide or cultural Melbourne. These thriving state capitals all share the same relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that this beautiful country is renowned for. Ask your Trailfinders travel consultant for more details.
