East Coast Island Escape

Day 1  Brisbane to K’Gari (Fraser Island)  
Meet your friendly group and depart Brisbane for River Heads, the gateway to K’Gari. Transfer by ferry and enjoy a group dinner before marvelling at the light and sound installation ‘Illumina’, which celebrates the island’s unique landscapes and ecosystem.

Day 2  K’Gari  
Explore this UNESCO World Heritage listed island on a full day 4WD tour. Travel along the golden sands of the world famous 75 Mile Beach and see the striking Maheno Shipwreck stranded on the beach. Visit the multicoloured sand dunes of The Pinnacles before stopping for a swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake McKenzie.

Day 3  K’Gari to Gladstone  
Catch the ferry back to the mainland and travel to the picturesque town of Childers. Continue north to Gladstone and finish the day with a visit to Round Hill Lookout, offering panoramic views of the city and harbour.

Day 4  Gladstone to Heron Island  
Cruise across the water to Heron Island, a small coral cay which can be walked around in just 20 minutes. Settle in and enjoy some time to relax.

Day 5  Heron Island  
Take advantage of a range of available activities including snorkelling, sunset cruises and guided walks.

Day 6  Heron Island to Rockhampton  
Spend one more leisurely morning on the island before taking the ferry back to the mainland and travelling onwards to Rockhampton.

Day 7  Rockhampton to Hamilton Island  
Travel north through Mackay and Proserpine’s verdant countryside en route to Airlie Beach, the gateway to the spectacular Whitsunday Islands. Arrive on Hamilton Island by ferry and explore this tropical paradise.

Day 8  Hamilton Island  
Today, embark on a cruise to the stunning Whitehaven Beach. Learn about the natural wonders of the area and sink your feet into its white sands. Later, perhaps wander through Hamilton Island’s Marina Village or take in the view at Catseye Beach.

Day 9  Hamilton Island to Townsville  
Say goodbye to this island haven and depart for Townsville. After lunch, head out on a tour of the magical UNESCO World Heritage listed Magnetic Island. Discover stunning beaches and Arcadia Bay, where rugged coastlines gives way to azure waters. Keep your eyes peeled for rock wallabies and other native wildlife.

Day 10  Townsville to Mission Beach  
With an eclectic collection of marine memorabilia, visit the Townsville Maritime Museum before hitting the road for the Cassowary Coast Region. Arrive at your destination of the charming coastal town of Mission Beach.

Day 11  Mission Beach to Port Douglas  
Visit Paronella Park in the morning and discover its remarkable architecture and story. Afterwards, continue to the Atherton Tablelands and visit the magnificent Millaa Millaa Falls, before ending your day in Port Douglas.

Day 12  Great Barrier Reef  
Board Sailaway Port Douglas’ state of the art catamaran to cruise across to the idyllic Low Isles, set within the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy guided snorkelling at the vibrant fringing reef, relax on a glass bottom boat tour and explore the island on a heritage walk. The calm lagoon offers marvellous swimming opportunities. Return to Port Douglas in the afternoon for a farewell dinner.

Day 13  Port Douglas to Cairns  
This morning, cruise along the Daintree River before heading to Cairns where the tour comes to an end.
