Itinerary

Day 1  Hobart to Port Arthur
The journey begins as we depart Hobart for Port Arthur and visit the Port Arthur Historical Reserve. Enjoy a fascinating tour and boat cruise before a welcome dinner to meet your fellow travellers.

Day 2  Port Arthur to Freycinet National Park
Departing Port Arthur we journey north along the Tasman Highway with a brief detour to explore the charming village of Richmond, home to Australia’s oldest bridge (1823). Head to the Freycinet Peninsula and this afternoon enjoy a walk to Wineglass Bay lookout.

Day 3  Freycinet National Park to Launceston
Visit the Cape Tourville Lighthouse, which offers spectacular views over the Tasman Sea, before an exclusive 20-minute scenic flight over Freycinet National Park. Afterwards, depart for Launceston, visiting Woolmer’s Estate at Longford on the way. Tonight, indulge in delicious Tasmanian produce at Grain of the Silos Restaurant.

Day 4  Launceston to Smithton
Follow the scenic Bass Highway and travel through the charming towns of Ulverstone, Penguin, and Burnie before arriving in Stanley, home to ‘The Nut’. If weather permits, take the chairlift to the top for stunning views over Bass Strait. This afternoon visit Highfield House before heading to Smithton.

Day 5  Smithton to Cradle Mountain
Smithton is home to Tasmania’s most fertile dairy and vegetable growing area. It’s also home to the historic Woolnorth Station, where we will enjoy a fully guided tour, including the Roaring 40’s Wind Farm and rugged Cape Grim. We then journey south to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.

Day 6  Cradle Mountain
Begin the day with a journey to the spectacular glacier formed Dove Lake, offering dramatic views of Cradle Mountain. Opt for a walk around the lake or head back to the hotel to relax. This afternoon, experience the ‘Enchanted Walk’, a 45-minute easy stroll amongst the area’s unique alpine flora and fauna. We then visit Waldheim Chalet, a replica of the original built by Gustav and Kate Weindorfer in 1912.

Day 7  Cradle Mountain to Strahan
Head south to Queenstown and learn about the area’s mining history with a local guide before continuing to Strahan.

Day 8  Strahan
Cruise along the Gordon River taking in the sights of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Enjoy two guided shore excursions to Heritage Landing and the historic Sarah Island including a visit to Hells Gates – where the harbour meets the wild Southern Ocean.

Day 9  Strahan to Hobart
Depart early this morning and meander through the scenic Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park to Lake St Clair. Next, discover the ‘Wall in the Wilderness’ at Derwent Bridge, an exquisite work in progress by artist Greg Duncan. After lunch, we continue south east towards Hobart, stopping at Russell Falls along the way.

Days  10-12  Hobart
Spend the next few days exploring Hobart and its surroundings including Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, a historical walking tour of Hobart and a scenic Bruny Island cruise to spot marine and coastal wildlife. On the last day visit Mount Wellington before returning to the airport for your onward journey.
