St John's City Break

Day 1  Arrival          
Arrive into St John’s and take a short taxi ride to your hotel, your base from which to explore this colourful and charismatic city. This evening, meander past brightly coloured houses, hear live music fill the air and go in search of excellent seafood restaurants. If you’re lucky, the locals may treat you by regaling fascinating folklore, or invite you to join them in a local tipple – screech.          

Day 2  Signal Hill & Downtown highlights          
Start your day atop Signal Hill and discover the historical significance of this strategic location, enjoying its spectacular views across the city and the North Atlantic. Wander towards The Rooms, an extensive collection of artwork showcasing Newfoundland’s creativity and intriguing history, housed in a unique and distinctive building. Later, taste some of St John’s culinary delights in the city’s thriving restaurant scene, then enjoy more live music on lively George Street.          

Day 3  Quidi Vidi Village          
Today visit Quidi Vidi, a charming village-within-a-city with the spirit of an old fishing community. Here, you can watch and interact with local artisans as they create their unique handmade items and learn about their trade. The lakeside setting offers a beautiful spot for a stroll, with waterfowl and seabirds often there to greet you along the way. Later, sample the award winning craft beer at the brewery before heading back to the centre of the city for another evening full of Celtic charm.          

Day 4  Whale Watch Cruise          
Set sail today in search of whales, puffins and icebergs! Enjoy a boat cruise from St John’s harbour to Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America. Watch as puffins dive head first towards the cliffs, keep your eyes peeled for humpbacks gliding by and if you’re lucky, spot a ‘berg out at sea.      

Day 5  Departure            
You have the morning to revisit your favourite sights and enjoy a final exploration of the boutiques, galleries and pubs which make up the characterful city. In the evening, take a quick taxi ride back to the airport for your flight home.
