Day 1 Osaka to Mount Koya
Home to over 100 temples, Mount Koya has been the centre of Shingon Buddhism, an important Buddhist sect, for over 1,200 years. Start your journey by local train to the top of Mount Koya. Then hop on a cable car for a guided tour of the mountaintop complex. Spend the night in temple lodgings and take in some of the best scenery in Japan. Enjoy traditional Shojin Ryori cuisine for dinner; a healthy and tasty vegetarian meal.
Day 2 Mount Koya to Osaka
This morning rise early to observe the monks as they chant their morning prayers. The rest of the day is free for you to further explore Mount Koya before heading back to Osaka.
