Itinerary
Day 1 Zadar
Welcome to Zadar, upon arrival pick up your car. As the oldest city in Croatia, Zadar has withstood the test of time, and its resilience and historic influences are visible throughout the walled city. Explore the charming old town, which is lined with remnants of its Roman past, such as the still-standing Pillar of Shame and the adjacent Roman Forum which has become an open-air museum. The Cathedral of Saint Anastasia also stands nearby, a symbol of Zadar’s endurance through conflict, having been rebuilt several times throughout the city’s history.
Days 2-3 Zadar
This morning, perhaps head to the beautiful, azure shores of Kolovare Beach, a hotspot near the old town, popular for those wanting a refreshing swim in the city. Alternatively, a short drive from Zadar will get you to the emerald-green Zrmanja River, surrounded by spectacular limestone canyons and an opportune place for those seeking outdoor activities like kayaking and rafting. The following day, opt to venture to the waterfront and enjoy delicious seafood accompanied by the hypnotic symphony of the Sea Organ, an art instillation which uses the power of waves to create music.
Day 4 Zadar to Sibenik
Drive to the historic city of Sibenik today, optionally stopping en route at the gorgeous Krka National Park. This exceptional, unspoilt nature preserve is known for its multifaceted biodiversity and seven distinct waterfalls that cascade through the valley. The dazzling turquoise waters, and lush forests complete with plenty of hiking trails, make for an incredibly serene area to explore. Upon the nearby lake is the 15th Century Visovac Monastery, a unique site which can be visited by boat and allows guests to stroll through the tranquil gardens.
Day 5 Sibenik
Enjoy a day at leisure, wandering the labyrinthian cobbled streets and medieval sites present throughout the city. Visit the UNESCO listed Cathedral of St. James, an impressive architectural marvel, made entirely out of stone, harmoniously combining gothic and renaissance styles. As the evening draws near, delight in the Mediterranean fare on offer, which ranges from Michelin-starred eateries to local konobas (Croatian taverns), complimented by sparkling views of the Dalmatian Coast.
Day 6 Sibenik to Split
Travel to Croatia's second-largest city, Split. If time allows, pay a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and perfectly preserved old town of Trogir. Drop off your car on arrival into Split, a city known for its blend of vibrant modern life superimposed onto a setting characterised by ancient history. Walk the grounds of the iconic Diocletian's Palace before finding a bite to eat on the illustrious Riva promenade or around any of the bustling squares.
Days 7-9 Split
Today, head out on a delicious food tour of the city, exploring the renowned landmarks alongside sampling an array of authentic cuisine. As your holiday comes to a close, why not spend your last days relaxing on the sandy Bacvice beach located next to the markets of the old town - a perfect place for some last minute souvenir shopping.
