Itinerary
Day 1 Campitello
Arrive in Venice and transfer to the pretty alpine village of Campitello, the gateway to the Dolomites. Later, meet your fellow travellers and tour leader. The routes can vary each day and will be discussed with your tour leader.
Day 2 Rifugio Sasso Piatto
Today’s walk will start with a cable car ride to Col Rodella to walk the southern flank of SassoLungo/Sasso Piatto to Rifugio Sasso Piatto.
Day 3 Catinaccio Range
Start your day in the pretty mountain village of Vigo di Fassa and take the cable car to the Ciampede Refuge at 2,000m. A moderate level walk will take you North West to Gardeccia then up Val di Vaiolet to Rifugio Principe for lunch. Enjoy the views before descending to Pera.
Day 4 Alba
Take a short bus journey to Alba where you can choose between a moderate or more challenging walk. The moderate walk will travel east along the Viel dal Pan with spectacular views of Marmolada, whereas the challenging route will traverse the higher level of Piz Boe.
Day 5 Campitello
Enjoy a relaxing day exploring Campitello by foot or bike. Rest your legs and take in the views or revisit a favourite spot and absorb more of the wonderful vistas. Alternatively, enjoy one of the optional local activities, including a tour to see the remains of Oetzi, the ‘Ice-Man’, in Bolzano.
Day 6 Val di Vajolet
Start by taking a bus to Vigo di Fassa, where we take a cable car to Ciampedie. We walk northwest to Gardeccia then up Val di Vajolet, famous for its six distinct monolithic peaks known as the Vajolet Towers. We then stop at Rifugio Principe for lunch with a fantastic view of the valley, before returning via the same route to Gardeccia and Ciampedie, with a possible alternative descent via chairlifts to Pera.
Day 7 Pozza
Begin with a bus journey to Pozza and then a gondola and chairlift ride. From the top, we follow the ridgeline over a small peak with stunning views to a col at Sella Brunech. Here, we climb again to continue our journey along the ridge, taking in the peak of L’Aut in the Marmolada range, before descending to Rifugio Ciampac for lunch. The area around L’Aut is geologically distinct from the main limestone Dolomites peaks, as it is primarily formed by black lava. After, we take the gondola back down into the Val di Fassa and continue with a gentle river walk back to Campitello.
Day 8 Campitello
The trip ends after breakfast.
