Lugano to Como - Lakes, Mountains & Sweeping Vistas

Day 1  Milan, Italy to Lugano, Switzerland        
Arrive into Milan, pick up your car and make your way through mountainous scenery to the lakeside resort of Lugano in Switzerland. Located in the Mediterranean-influenced Ticino region, this lovely town overlooks the glistening waters of Lake Lugano, flanked by verdant hillsides.            

Day 2  Lugano            
Today explore Lugano and its stunning surrounds. Discover the lively café culture, take a cable car to the summit of Monte Bré and perhaps board a relaxing lake cruise. This evening, unwind on the lakefront at one of Lugano’s fabulous al fresco dining spots.    

Day 3  Lugano          
Bordered by beautiful countryside dotted with enchanting villages, take the day to explore further by car. Set idyllically between the summit of Mount San Salvatore and Mount Arbostora, Carona’s narrow streets and compact squares are abundant with charm, featuring 16^th Century architecture. Back on the lakefront, Melide boasts a beautiful promenade and offers a perfect stop for lunch.          

Day 4  Lugano, Switzerland to Lake Como, Italy  
Head back into Italy today as you drive towards iconic Lake Como. Set within a beautiful valley surrounded by the Rhaetian Alps, Como is arguably the most stunning of Italy’s lakes. After checking in to your hotel spend a leisurely afternoon enjoying the facilities or exploring nearby.            

Day 5  Lake Como            
Enjoy the next few days as you discover picturesque Lake Como. Start in the town of Como with a visit to the impressive Duomo of Como cathedral, before admiring the breathtaking views from the lakeside promenade, perhaps stopping for a refreshing spritz.

Days 6-7  Lake Como            
Venture further along the lake’s coast to Villa del Balbianello, a beautiful 16^th Century estate surrounded by pretty gardens. Beautiful Bellagio is also not to be missed, boasting an ideal waterfront location. Why not take a boat tour and admire the villas and villages surrounding the lake?      

Day 8  Lake Como to Milan        
After a final morning in Como, take the scenic drive back to Milan for your onward flight.
