Rail and Sail Italy and the Balkans

Day 1  Sorrento, Italy    
Arrive in Sorrento and transfer to your hotel. This evening, head to the promenade for unforgettable sunset views across the bay, with Mount Vesuvius’ imposing silhouette in the distance.      

Day 2  Sorrento      
A short drive away lie the ruins of Pompeii. Join a small group tour to explore the world-renowned archaeological site of Pompeii, which was buried by the erupting Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Wander amongst the well-preserved ruins of this once vibrant, ancient city before climbing to the rim of the volcano itself.      

Day 3  Sorrento    
Soak up the relaxed vibe of Sorrento. Stroll through lemon tree-lined streets, pay a visit to the manicured gardens of Villa Comunale Park, or perhaps while away the hours in a lively café at Piazza Tasso. Alternatively, opt to discover the beautiful towns and scenery of the Amalfi Coast and maybe visit glamorous Positano, brimming with stylish boutiques, and the clifftop village of Ravello, home to colourful gardens and wonderful sea views.      

Day 4  Sorrento to Rome      
Make your way to Sorrento to board the train to Rome via Naples and settle into your hotel. Use today to familiarise yourself with Italy’s fascinating capital, its captivating streets are alive with ornate fountains, quaint piazzas and welcoming cafés where fresh coffee and delicious gelato await.  

Day 5  Rome    
Spend today exploring more of Rome’s enchanting streets and iconic landmarks, including the world-famous Trevi Fountain, the imposing Colosseum and the Pantheon, one of the greatest Roman temples. Perhaps discover Rome’s iconic Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel on a guided tour. Marvel at the glorious artworks by Renaissance artists such as Michelangelo and Raphael and wonder at the ornate frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.

Day 6  Cruise Embarkation    
Transfer to Civitavecchia port, board Enchanted Princess® and set sail for Corfu, Greece.  

Day 7  Relaxing at sea      

Day 8  Corfu, Greece    
The lush and verdant island of Corfu lies in the Ionian Sea, midway between Greece and Italy. Perhaps visit Corfu Town, strongly influenced by the Venetians; its cobblestoned alleyways and intriguing museums boast a nostalgic charm. Meander through the narrow, pastel-lined streets of the Campiello, Corfu Town’s medieval quarter or head to the imposing New Fortress. For secluded coves and hidden gems, the bohemian village of Palaiokastritsa is the perfect place to explore.      

Day 9  Dubrovnik, Croatia      
The picture-perfect medieval walled city of Dubrovnik offers ancient stone buildings, narrow cobbled streets and fortified ramparts rising above red-tiled rooftops. Explore the fortified old town, strolling along the city walls for phenomenal views of the iconic architecture and beautiful, blue ocean. Discover the historic sites or perhaps join a Game of Thrones tour to visit some of the famous locations seen on the show. For wonderful panoramas over the bay, perhaps take a cable car up to the top of Mount Srd.      

Day 10  Kotor, Montenegro      
Kotor is the gateway to the cultural and scenic wonders of Montenegro, from the old royal capital at Cetinje to the marshes and wildlife of Lake Skadar National Park. Wander along the harbour front, enjoy the sound of the waves on the pebble beaches and savour cocktails and Mediterranean cuisine whilst soaking up stunning ocean views.      

Day 11  Relaxing at sea      

Day 12  Naples, Italy      
Dock in the beautiful, bustling city of Naples. Perhaps wander along the picturesque waterfront of Chaia neighbourhood or explore the charming narrow streets of the Spanish Quarter, full of tasty street food on every corner. Alternatively, choose to take a boat ride over to the world-renowned island of Capri to discover its charm.      

Day 13  Disembark in Civitavecchia for Rome      
Disembark Enchanted Princess® and transfer to Rome for your onward journey.
