Festive Tromso & Svalbard's Polar Nights

Day 1  Tromso                  
Arrive into Tromso and make your way to your hotel in the centre of town. A compact city, Tromso offers a wide selection of activities, exhibits and dining experiences.                    

Days 2-3  Tromso  
Two days in Tromso will give you plenty of time to get under the skin of this fascinating city. Perhaps ride the cable car up to the Storsteinen viewing platform for views of the spectacular cityscape. On one of the days you’ll have your exciting excursion into the world of the local Sami reindeer herders. Enjoy a gentle sleigh ride and gather around the fire in a Lavvu tent to hear about life in the area.                    

Day 4  Tromso to Longyearbyen      
Take a flight north to the town of Longyearbyen on the island of Spitsbergen, Svalbard. This fascinating settlement was originally built to support Norwegian coal miners and is now a charming base for visitors to the region’s wild polar landscape. Now the main income is tourism and the international town offers a variety of high quality restaurants, shops and exhilarating day tours with a festive friendly feel.                    

Days 5-6  Longyearbyen                  
Enjoy a selection of guided activities heading outside of Longyearbyen into the wilderness. The polar winter means you’ll experience 3 days of total darkness, with plenty of opportunities for the Northern Lights to appear. You’ll dash over the snow driving a pack of excited sled dogs, ride a snowcat in search of the Northern Lights and enjoy a wilderness evening in a cosy cabin, hearing about the history of the archipelago and myths surrounding the magical Aurora.                  

Day 7  Longyearbyen                  
Say goodbye to the charming town, maybe pay a final visit to the shops and boutiques to pick up some souvenirs before you’re taken to the airport for your onward flight.
