Itinerary
Fly to Zagreb and make your way to your hotel for check in. Spend the afternoon exploring the city and stop at Ban Josip Jelacic Square, one of the most iconic sights in the heart of Zagreb.
Day 2 Zagreb
After breakfast, set out to explore the city starting with the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the largest sacred building in Croatia and appreciate the elegant spires which adorn the city’s skyline.
Day 3 Zagreb
Today, visit Medvednica, the ruins of a medieval town located in a picturesque, hillside forest.
Day 4 Zagreb to Ljubljana, Slovenia
Rise early to catch your train to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city, nicknamed the ‘Green Heart of Europe’. After checking into your hotel, stroll down the river path, taking in the beautiful views of this charming city at every turn.
Day 5 Ljubljana
Take a guided tour out of the city to explore Postojna Caves, a remarkable network of caves found deep underground. Take a ride on an electric train to see the caves captivating rock formations at depths of 115m below the surface. In the afternoon, the tour continues to the medieval cave castle of Predjama, spectacularly perched, on a cliff for more than 800 years.
Day 6 Ljubljana
Join a tour to encounter the serene beauty of Slovenia’s most famous lakes. First visit picturesque Lake Bled, known for its fairy tale views of a church on an island in the centre of the lake. Delight in the 4 mile scenic walk around the lake and witness the dramatic cliff top setting of Bled Castle. Take in the breathtaking views of Julian Alps mountain range and relax by the crystal clear waters of the largest glacier lake in the country, Lake Bohinj.
Day 7 Fly home
Additional Options: With a few extra days, why not spend more time in the Slovenian lakes or Triglav National Park to participate in some sporting activities including kayaking, hiking and boat trips?
