Itinerary

Day 1  Málaga to Granada
Fly to Málaga and upon arrival, pick up your car. Drive the scenic roads to Granada, a lovely city at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Get your bearings by meandering the narrow-cobbled streets of the Albaicin district, Granada’s oldest neighbourhood, admiring the traditional Carmen (high walled houses with internal gardens) en route, and passing the whitewashed buildings and hidden squares in the Jewish Quarter. This evening, perhaps stroll through Triunfo Gardens to see the fountains lit with multicoloured lights.

Day 2  Granada
Today, discover the beauty of La Alhambra, the spectacular Moorish palace and fortress decked with sunning frescoes, decorated columns and arches and courtyards dotted with burbling fountains. With your tour, explore the beautiful hillside gardens of the Generalife Palace just next door with breathtaking views of the Rivers Darro and Genil. Later, decide to visit the cathedral and Royal Chapel to marvel at the elegant mix of Gothic and Renaissance styles. After a day of exploring the historic sites, indulge in some tasty tapas in one of the local restaurants.

Day 3  Granada to Córdoba
Drive north to the medieval city of Córdoba. Explore the mesmerising Mezquita-Catedral (Mosque-Cathedral) of Córdoba, one of the world’s greatest examples of Islamic architecture. Climb the bell tower for panoramic views of the city and wander outside its awe-inspiring walls and discover quaint hidden plazas nearby. Opt to go to Alcázar Fortress of the Christian Monarchs, a former royal residence with splendid gardens. Later, cross the Guadalquivir River over the stunning Roman bridge originally constructed in the 1st Century, to visit the living museum at Calahorra Tower.

Day 4  Córdoba to Seville
After a leisurely breakfast, drive to Seville, the regional capital and home to an intoxicating mix of historic architecture, buzzing plazas and lively flamenco clubs. Amble through the characterful city’s hidden medieval lanes, and pretty orange tree lined streets to Plaza de España, the most famous square in Seville. This evening, immerse yourself in the rhythm of the city as you enjoy a fantastic flamenco show in an authentic tablao (venue for live flamenco performances) followed by a feast of tasty tapas.

Day 5  Seville
Start the day strolling the cobblestoned streets of the Santa Cruz district and make your way to the beautiful Alcázar of Seville for your tour of this magnificent Moorish palace complex which is still in use today. Later, elect to visit Seville’s Cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in the world and its bell tower, La Giralda, both UNESCO Word Heritage Sites, to admire the intricate architecture. Perhaps, head to the old quarter to see the Setas de Sevilla, the largest wooden construction in the world, and walk the wooden pathway on top of the parasols whilst marvelling at the remarkable views of the city.

Day 6  Seville to Ronda
Today, drive south to Ronda, an enchanting mountaintop city where the Moorish old town and 15th Century new town are separated by the 120 metre deep El Tajo Gorge. Wander across the iconic Puente Nuevo, a 200 year old bridge or choose to explore Palacio Mondragón, a 14th Century palace with charming Moorish courtyards and gardens with views over Sierra de Grazalema Nature Reserve.

Day 7  Fly home
Drive to Málaga airport and drop off your car in time for your flight home.
