Maharajas' Express - The Indian Panorama

Day 1  Fly to Delhi    

Days 2-3  Delhi  
Welcome to Delhi, upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Today, discover the sights and sounds of India’s capital city with a private tour. Take in the highlights of the city’s magnificent Mughal architecture as well as the bustling streets of Old Delhi.            

Day 4  Delhi to Jaipur      
Head to the station to board the Maharajas’ Express for breakfast before the train departs for Jaipur. After lunch and a briefing, disembark to visit the spectacular Amber Fort.    

Day 5  Jaipur to Ranthambore NP      
Visit Jaipur's City Palace galleries then return to the train for lunch. The afternoon is free to relax on board or join an excursion (payable locally) to visit some of Jaipur’s other sites. Enjoy dinner at the grand Rambagh Palace hotel before the train continues towards Ranthambore.            

Day 6  Ranthambore NP to Agra          
Keep your eyes peeled for tigers on an early morning game drive through the scenic landscapes of Ranthambore National Park, a former maharajas’ hunting ground. Continue to Agra, stopping at the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri en route.

Day 7  Agra to Orchha            
Rise early to discover the magnificent Taj Mahal before exploring Agra Fort or other city sights in the afternoon.  

Day 8  Orchha to Varanasi      
Stop to visit the magical Orchha Fort complex by tuk-tuk, which dates back to the 16th Century. Continue on to Khajuraho to see its outstanding temple art, before departing for Varanasi.  

Day 9  Varanasi to Delhi      
Today’s sightseeing includes an excursion to Sarnath, a sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site, as well as a stop at a silk weaving centre. Later, the sights, sounds and smells of the holy city of Varanasi will envelope you as you watch a spellbinding ganga aarti (river worship) ceremony from a boat on the river. Return to the train to enjoy your last night on board as it departs for Delhi.            

Day 10  Delhi            
Bid a fond farewell to the Maharajas’ Express and disembark at Delhi. You will be met at the station and transferred to your hotel.  

Day 11  Fly home
