Days 1-5  Negombo & The Cultural Triangle  
Fly overnight to Colombo and transfer to your hotel in nearby Negombo for a night before heading to the Cultural Triangle. Visit the former capital city of Polonnaruwa, built during the 11th and 12th Centuries and explore the ruins of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend a morning at the impressive Sigiriya fortress and experience a game drive in Minneriya National Park where you will search for herds of majestic elephants and other local wildlife.    

Days 6-7  Kandy  
Head to the hill country capital of Kandy with a stop at Dambulla cave temples, a complex of five caves filled with Buddha images and statues. Continue with an optional stop at a spice garden en route. The next day visit the bustling market and the beautiful Peradeniya Botanic Gardens located on the outskirts of the city. Later, enjoy a show of Sri Lankan music and dance before a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.  

Days 8-9  Tea Country  
Travel through Sri Lanka’s spectacular tea country by train. Pass by emerald-hued plantations as you wind your way through this picturesque landscape before transferring by road to the town of Nuwara Eliya in the heart of the tea producing region. Enjoy a full day to relax and soak up the surroundings or opt to explore this stunning region by bicycle or on a trek.

Days 10-16  Southwest Coast    
Leave the cooler climes of the tea country and head to Avani Kalutara Resort on Sri Lanka’s beautifully rugged southwest coast. Spend your days relaxing around the pool or on the beach or choose to explore the surrounding area. In the evening dine on delicious food and sip a cocktail whilst enjoying the sun set before your overnight flight home.
