Itinerary
Welcome to Rarotonga! Made up of 15 sensational islands scattered over a vast expanse of ocean, the tiny Cook Islands are a castaway’s dream come true. Nestled between Fiji and French Polynesia, the islands are equally as beautiful but less visited than either of their famous neighbours. Rarotonga, the largest of these tropical islands is your first stop.
Days 2-5 Rarotonga
Spend the next few days snorkelling and kayaking in the sheltered lagoons, hike into the lush interior or board the local bus to easily explore the whole island. The weekly market (Saturdays only) has a range of arts and crafts on offer and lots of traditional dishes to sample. An ’Island Night’ culture show where locals perform drumming, singing and dancing should also not be missed.
Day 6 Rarotonga to Aitutaki
A short scenic flight takes you to the alluring tropical island of Aitutaki. This small isle is home to some of the finest white sand beaches in the Cook Islands, a beautiful, lush interior of rainforest and lagoons, all surrounded by a ring of coral and sandy islets. For those really looking to get away from it all, this is the island for you.
Days 7-8 Aitutaki
Nestled in a spectacular lagoon with an abundance of marine life, it is no surprise snorkelling is one of the most popular activities. Alternatively, enjoy a fishing trip, stroll from sand to sea or join a lagoon cruise and get your passport stamped on One Foot Island.
Day 9 Aitutaki to Rarotonga
Transfer to the airport for your onward travel arrangements.
