Itinerary

Days 1-5 Auckland to Bay of Islands
The vibrant waterfront of Auckland Harbour is a foodie delight! Savour some incredible local produce and chill in one of the harbour-side bars before picking up your Mighty Camper to head out on your North Island adventure! First, head north to the Bay of Islands, a stunning region with chilled coastal towns and turquoise waters, so park up and explore this stunning region.

Days 6-11 Bay of Islands to Taupo
Head back south to the adventure playground of the Coromandel Peninsula and the beautiful Bay of Plenty, then it's time to get your volcanic fix at the geothermal wonderland of Rotorua. This area is also rich in traditional Maori heritage so put your best war face on while learning the haka and enjoy a delicious hangi feast, before continuing to Taupo for a thrilling jet boat ride to Huka Falls, feel the full force of rushing water as you get up close.

Days 12-16 Taupo to Wellington
It must be 5 o'clock somewhere as the next few days will be spent exploring some of North Island's best wine regions! Starting in the Art Deco town of Napier, Hawke's Bay is known for its famous Syrah red blend, while Martinborough has an exceptional range of Pinot Noirs so grab your favourite bottle and enjoy a picnic under the stars among the rolling vineyards. Then its the nation's capital, Wellington which is home to the Weta Workshops who produced the special effects for The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies.

Days 17-21 Wellington to Auckland
Step off the tourist trail and traverse the less travelled west coast of the island. Hike through Tongariro National Park, enjoying a stunning sunset over this unusual landscape, before joining the winding Forgotten World Highway to New Plymouth. Admire the dormant volcano of Mount Taranaki, renowned for its symmetry and continue north to the glistening glowworm caves of Waitomo before your adventure comes to an end back in Auckland.
