Colombia Explorer Extension

Day 1  Bogotá  
On arrival to Bogotá, transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in this sprawling capital city, known for its mix of exciting art scenes and vivid culture.

Day 2  Bogotá  
Today, explore Bogotá as you head out on a city tour. Just outside of the city, visit Zipaquirá this morning to marvel at the impressive underground salt cathedral, carved into the tunnels of an old salt mine. After, head to the city’s historic quarter, La Candelaria, to learn about Colombia’s history in the museums and wander the quaint cobbled alleys.

Day 3  Bogotá to Medellín  
Fly to Medellín today, known as one of the most innovative cities in the world. Enjoy an insightful tour to learn about the city’s transformation since the death of Pablo Escobar and travel via the cable cars of the infamous Comuna 13, previously considered one of the world’s most dangerous neighborhoods. Visit some of the city’s most significant places and explore the characterful street art.

Day 4  Guatapé  
Today, visit the picturesque lakeside village of Guatapé. Stop at the enormous El Peñól rock, and perhaps opt to climb the 654 steps to the top (payable locally), before exploring the cobbled streets lined with quaint pastel coloured houses and visiting the Guatapé reservoir. Later, return to Medellín for a lovely evening in this captivating city.

Day 5  Medellín to Cartagena          
Fly from Medellín to the historic city of Cartagena, overlooking the Caribbean coast. This amazing city is home to old fortress walls, colourful architecture and a bustling port.

Day 6  Cartagena  
Today, soak up the romantic atmosphere of this UNESCO World Heritage Site on a tour which also includes a visit to the San Felipe Fortress and the old town. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to discover more of this charming city at your own pace. Perhaps head to the city walls to watch the golden hour over the ocean before visiting one of the city’s many exceptional restaurants for dinner.

Day 7  Cartagena  
Transfer to the airport for your onward travel arrangements.
