Day 1  Central Valley
Fly to San José. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in the Central Valley.

Day 2  Central Valley
Visit the Toucan Rescue Ranch. Meet some of the animals the ranch has saved and learn about the rescue and release process.

Day 3  Central Valley to Tortuguero NP
Wake up early and travel by road to the Caribbean coast through an increasingly lush landscape. Continue by boat along winding jungle-lined canals to reach your lodge. This afternoon, take a tour of the village of Tortuguero and learn about the sea turtles who visit this area every year to nest (Jul - Sep). In season, tours to observe these turtles nesting can be arranged locally.

Day 4  Tortuguero NP
Explore Tortuguero National Park on guided tours by foot and boat. This unique environment is home to a diverse mixture of flora and fauna.

Day 5  Tortuguero NP to Arenal
Travel to your next resort, situated in the shadow of Arenal Volcano.

Day 6  Arenal
This morning, explore the treetops; soar up into the canopy on a gondola ride then wander along hanging bridges through the lush rainforest.

Day 7  Arenal
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the rainforest as you paddle down the Peñas Blancas River. Look out for monkeys, brightly coloured birds and other wildlife as you float along this peaceful river. This afternoon, go searching for sloths on a specialist tour with a sloth expert.

Day 8  Arenal
Relax and enjoy the facilities at your hotel or discover more of the Arenal region.

Day 9  Arenal to the Guanacaste Coast
Travel to the fantastic Pacific coast for a few relaxing days by the ocean.

Days 10-13  Guanacaste Coast
Relax on the beach and enjoy time in the tropical Costa Rican sun.

Days 14-15  Fly home
Transfer to Liberia airport and fly to San José in time for your flight home.
