Yucatan Discovery

Day 1  Chichén Itzá        
Upon arrival in Cancún transfer to your hotel located close to the magnificent archaeological site of Chichén Itzá.        

Day 2  Chichén Itzá to Mérida        
Rise early and take a morning tour of Chichén Itzá. Set in the dense rainforest, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is justifiably one of Mexico’s most famous Mayan sites. Continue to Mérida, the cultural capital of the Yucatán state and a city rich in colonial history. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore at your leisure. Chichén Itzá.        

Day 3  Uxmal & Kabah        
Travel to the ancient city of Uxmal, one of the most impressive and important sites of Mayan culture. Discover the many beautiful buildings including the House of the Magician, the nunnery and the House of Turtles. Continue to Kabah, with its amazing Palace of the Masks, covered in almost 300 masks of the rain god Chaac. Later return to Mérida.        

Day 4  Celestún Biosphere      
Drive to the Celestún Biosphere, famed as one of the largest breeding grounds of pink flamingos* and home to a wealth of plant species, some endemic. Take a boat ride through the estuaries of the Ria Celestún, observing flamingo colonies and many other species of bird. Later transfer back to Mérida stopping at a freshwater spring (please note this is not a cenote) where the water is transparent and ideal for swimming.        

Day 5  Mérida to Cancún or Riviera Maya  
Transfer to Cancún airport or head to the Riviera Maya for a relaxing beach break.        

*April to May is nesting season for the flamingos and therefore numbers at Celestún are greatly reduced.
