Itinerary

Day 1  Fly to Lima    

Day 2  Lima        
Welcome to Peru. Upon arrival, transfer to the 5★ Country Club Lima Hotel in the lovely suburb of San Isidro. This afternoon, relax by the outdoor pool and dine on innovative Peruvian dishes in the exquisite restaurant.        

Day 3  Lima        
See the highlights of Peru’s dynamic capital as you head out on a guided tour. Offering a wealth of fascinating sites, stroll around the city’s main square, visit the Santo Domingo Convent, the historic mansion of Casa de Aliaga and the Larco Museum to admire its amazing range of exhibits and lovely gold and silver artefacts.        

Day 4  Lima to Sacred Valley.        
Fly to Cusco and transfer to the Sacred Valley, stopping en route at an Andean textiles centre. Visit the observatory built by the Incas in Pisac town and indulge in an authentic lunch at a local hacienda (a traditional private estate). Spend the next two nights at the magnificent 5★ Tambo del Inka, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.        

Day 5  Sacred Valley        
Today, head out to discover the majestic Sacred Valley. Call in to Pablo Seminario’s Ceramic Workshop and observe incredible creations in progress, visit the Maras salt pools and the impressive circular Moray agricultural terraces. Stop for a picnic lunch with an alluring view of the landscapes at Tiobamba town before heading to the picturesque village of Chinchero.    

Day 6  Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu        
Visit the imposing Inca citadel of Ollantaytambo before boarding the splendid First Class Machu Picchu train for the journey to the small town of Aguas Calientes, the gateway to the impressive Machu Picchu. Join a guide for an afternoon tour to discover the history and majesty of this remarkable site. Stay at the 4★+ Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel, set against a backdrop of the imposing Andean mountains and rushing Urubamba River.        

Day 7  Machu Picchu to Cusco        
This morning, explore Machu Picchu independentlybefore boarding the Hiram Bingham, A Belmond Train to Cusco and enjoy live entertainment and a sumptuous dinner on board. On arrival in Cusco, check into the beautiful 5★ Palacio del Inka, A Luxury Collection Hotel. Designed in the style of a historic convent and centrally located facing the famous Koricancha, or Temple of the Sun, this stunning property is a fantastic base to explore this delightful city.          

Day 8  Cusco        
Discover Cusco today on a guided walking tour taking in Plaza de Armas, San Pedro Market and the fortress ruins of Sacsayhuamán, where you can marvel at sweeping panoramic city views.      

Day 9  Andean Explorer, A Belmond Train
Board the luxurious Andean Explorer, A Belmond Train in Cusco for a two night journey through the Peruvian highlands. Enjoy lunch on board in the elegant dining car before disembarking at the Inca ruins of Raqch’i. Stop briefly to soak up the sunset over the La Raya Mountains, then tuck into a delicious dinner as you continue your journey to Lake Titicaca.  

Day 10  Andean Explorer, A Belmond Train
Wake early to see the sun rise over radiant Lake Titicaca, and after breakfast, explore this gorgeous lake on a guided tour. Take a boat to the Uros Islands, man-made islands constructed from woven reeds, then continue to Taquile Island, renowned for textile art. Return to the train for afternoon tea before resuming your journey.  

Day 11  Colca Canyon        
Have an early breakfast before setting off to the spellbinding Lake Lagunillas. Marvel at the rugged scenery before visiting the Sumbay Caves. Disembark the train at Cañahuas and continue by road to Colca Canyon for a stay at 4★ Colca Lodge Spa & Hot Springs. During the drive, marvel at the scenery of the region which includes volcanoes and lakes.      

Day 12  Colca Canyon        
Today, take a private tour to the canyon to see Andean condors soaring overhead followed by visits to the towns of Maca and Yanque.        

Day 13  Colca Canyon to Arequipa        
Transfer by road to the pretty city of Arequipa and spend two nights at the fabulous 5★ Cirqa.  

Day 14  Arequipa        
After breakfast, enjoy a private sightseeing tour of Arequipa and visit Plaza de Armas, one of the most beautiful squares in Peru.        

Days 15-16  Fly home      
Transfer to Arequipa airport and fly to Lima in time for your flight home.
