Sabah Wildlife Discovery

Day 1  Sandakan to Sepilok      
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel in nearby Sepilok.          

Day 2  Sepilok          
Visit Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in time for the morning feeding session to observe these playful creatures in their national habitat. After, head to the nearby Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre which aims to increase awareness of this curious and little known bear species.          

Day 3  Sepilok to Kinabatangan River          
Travel onwards to the Kinabatangan River. Boasting one of the highest concentration of flora and fauna in all of Borneo, these waterways provide superb wildlife viewing opportunities. Soak up the idyllic surroundings and search for rare species on an afternoon river cruise.

Day 4  Kinabatangan River          
Enjoy a sunrise boat trip to experience the sights and sounds of the rainforest coming to life. Return to your lodge for breakfast and some time at leisure before a late afternoon cruise to discover some more of the river’s diverse wildlife.

Day 5  Kinabatangan River to Tabin Wildlife Reserve          
Drive to Tabin and check into your rustic wooden cottage within the reserve. Enjoy a short trek through the jungle to Tabin’s mineral rich mud volcano. After dinner head out for an evening nature walk under the star-studded sky.    

Day 6  Tabin Wildlife Reserve          
Join an early morning bird walk in search of some of Tabin’s prolific birdlife followed by a jungle trek with a refreshing stop at Lipad’s Waterfall. The afternoon is at leisure in the beautiful natural surroundings of your lodge.          

Day 7  Tabin Wildlife Reserve to Danum Valley
Head to the remote Danum Valley and explore the many jungle trails with an experienced naturalist. There is also a towering canopy walkway which offers a unique view of the rainforest from above. This evening enjoy a torchlit night drive in an open jeep in search of nocturnal animals.          

Day 8  Danum Valley          
Embark on an adventurous trek to Coffin Cliff, an ancient burial site of the KadazanDusun tribe, before proceeding to a view point for a panoramic vista of the valley. Tonight you will have one final opportunity to explore the nature trails and observe more wildlife with a guided night walk through the rainforest.          

Day 9  Danum Valley to Lahad Datu        
Transfer to Lahad Datu airport for your onward flight. Alternatively, extend your stay in one of Kota Kinabalu’s surrounding beach hotels.
