Itinerary
Days 2-4 Bangkok
Welcome to the bustling capital! Upon arrival you will be driven to your hotel, taking in the bright city lights as you weave through a forest of skyscrapers, past swathes of lively markets and streets adorned with local food vendors. After a chance to acclimatise to your new surroundings, it’s time to explore ancient temples and the picturesque landscapes of a bygone era. Hop on a train to the former capital of Siam, Ayutthaya and enjoy zipping around the temples in a tuk-tuk, before savouring a local lunch. Finish the day with a relaxing cruise on a traditional longtail boat along the Chao Phraya River.
Day 5 Bangkok to Kanchanaburi
This morning you will be driven to the garden province of Samut Songkhram where a unique country market takes place along the railway tracks. This is a great chance for souvenir hunting and quite the spectacle when a train passes directly through the centre of the stalls. Travel onwards to Kanchanaburi, stopping for lunch right by The Bridge Over the River Kwai prior to visiting a few insightful war museums and exhibits. The last stop is the Memorial Walking Trail where you’ll be met with sweeping views of the canyon below, alongside a powerful audio guide from the perspective of former POWs.
Days 6-7 Kanchanaburi
Spend the next two days staying in a river camp located close to the historic Hellfire Pass on the Death Railway. The secluded, rustic environment creates a chance for some relaxation and is a great base to explore the nearby Sai Yok National Park within this culturally significant region.
Day 8 Kanchanaburi to Bangkok
After breakfast, it’s time to head to the spectacular seven-tiered Erawan Waterfall, located in Erawan National Park. Should weather permit you’ll be able climb the falls and even go for a dip. Before arriving back in Bangkok, it’s time for lunch followed by a short train ride along the infamous Death Railway.
Day 9 Bangkok to Koh Samet
Following breakfast, transfer by road and boat to your hotel in Koh Samet.
Days 10-14 Koh Samet
A lesser visited natural paradise with white sands, warm waters and welcoming locals. This laidback haven is surrounded by powder beaches with the main beach of Hat Sai Kaew colloquially referred to as Diamond Beach due to its ultra-fine sands and crystal clear sea.
