Oman Fly Drive Adventure

Days 1-3  Muscat  
Fly overnight to Muscat and upon arrival collect your car. Flanked by the mighty Hajar Mountains and soft-sand beaches, traditional and understated Muscat is a world away from the nearby fast-paced cities of the UAE. Explore the fascinating history and culture synonymous with Oman, see Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque one of the largest mosques in the world and visit Mutrah Corniche.  

Day 4  Muscat to Jebel Shams  
The drive from Muscat to the impressive Al Hajar Mountain range (approx 2.5 hours) is an adventure its own right. En route visit the ancient town of Nizwa, home to Nizwa Fort, a castle built in the 17th Century famed for its distinctive 40m-tall round tower and neighbouring souk.

Day 5  Jebel Shams  
Meaning ‘Mountain of Sun’, Jebel Shams is best known as the home of Oman’s answer to the Grand Canyon, Wadi Ghul. With sheer cliff faces that stretch for over 1000m, Jebel Shams is perfect for photography and adventure enthusiasts.  

Day 6  Jebel Shams to Wahiba Sands  
Swap rugged mountain peaks for the towering dunes of Wahiba Sands (approx 3 hours). With a one night stay in Desert Nights Resort, relax in comfortable tented accommodation in a spectacular setting. As the sun sets and hot days give way to cool evenings, admire the night sky as the stars sparkle above in all their glory.

Day 7  Wahiba Sands to Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve  
On the drive to Sur (approx 2 hours), it is possible to visit Wadi Bani Khalid, a rocky river valley with lush green palms and refreshing turquoise waters. Once famous for dhow boat building, Sur is now a sleepy seaside town with striking traditional dwellings, dhow boat yards and a network of winding streets. Afterwards continue on to the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve.

Day 8  Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve  
Established in 2008, the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve is an eco-tourism resort helping to conserve the nesting process of Oman’s sea turtles. Offering a wide range of activities and amenities, the reserve educates visitors on the wonders of these ancient creatures.

Day 9  Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve to Muscat  
On the final journey of this holiday, meander along the coastal road between Sur and Muscat (approx 3 hours), stopping off at the incredible Bimmah Sinkhole and Wadi Shab.  

Day 10  Muscat  
After a final night in Muscat, head to the airport for your flight home.
