Itinerary
Day 1 Boston
Arrive in Boston, one of the oldest cities in the USA. Before meeting your guide and group for a welcome dinner, perhaps stroll through to Downtown Crossing or visit the shops at historic Quincy Market.
Day 2 Boston to Saratoga Springs
Today, step into the footsteps of history as you follow the red brick Freedom Trail and discover the story of the American Revolution. Along the way, see Boston Common, Trinity Church and Copley Square. In the afternoon, head to Stockbridge, where you’ll have the choice between visiting Chesterwood, the former home of renowned sculptor Daniel Chester French, and the Norman Rockwell Museum, home to the largest collection of original Rockwell art. Later, continue into the rolling hills of the Berkshires towards Saratoga Spa State Park in upstate New York.
Day 3 Saratoga Springs to Stowe
Travel further into the heart of New England. In Weston, step inside the Vermont Country Store, a family-run emporium preserving generations of heritage brands and household curiosities including locally made maple syrup, nostalgic sweets and artisanal cheeses. Head to Woodstock, a village renowned for its Federal-style architecture. Here, visit the Billings Farm and Museum and find out how 19th Century life shaped the region’s agricultural legacy. In the afternoon, learn about how maple sap is turned into syrup at the Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks. End the day in Stowe, a picturesque town in northern Vermont known for its breathtaking alpine scenery.
Day 4 Stowe
Enjoy Vermont’s beautiful scenery ablaze with autumn’s golden red colours. Stop by the women-owned and operated Bread and Butter Farm and Blossom Wholesome Foods Kitchen for an introduction to the farm. Discover its history and join the owner to pick bouquets of seasonal flowers to create table centrepieces. Afterwards, enjoy a farm-to-table lunch with fresh ingredients, including dishes such as butternut squash soup and maple cookies. During the afternoon, perhaps opt to explore the charming town of Stowe, filled with artisan boutiques and local charm.
Day 5 Stowe to North Conway
Journey to New Hampshire’s White Mountains and enter the striking mountain pass of Franconia Notch. Take a scenic journey on the Gondola SkyRide at Loon Mountain Resort. On a clear day, you’ll have superb panoramic views of New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, New York and Canada. Later, journey through the stunning crimson and orange hues of the Kancamagus Scenic Byway to North Conway. This spectacular section of Route 112 boasts natural beauty and fantastic views of rolling hills.
Day 6 North Conway
In the morning, enjoy an insightful talk by a woman naturalist expert on the wildlife and ecology of the North Woods. Learn about the forest and valley, as well as the strategies adopted to survive New England’s drastic changes between the seasons. Continue your journey through Crawford Notch, a stunning pass through the White Mountains. Stop at the Silver Cascade Waterfall and Bretton Woods, offering views of Mount Washington, before taking a scenic hike to Diana’s Baths which is made up of a series of small cascading waterfalls.
Day 7 North Conway to Portland
Cross into Maine this morning and travel to Kennebunkport, a year round coastal destination home to the rich and famous. Travel along the beautiful Maine coastline before arriving in Portland for an afternoon at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a delicious lobster dinner with your group.
Day 8 Portland to Boston
Head to Fort Williams Park, home to the iconic Portland Head Lighthouse. Afterwards, drive along the rugged coast back to Boston, where your tour comes to an end.
